I discovered my passion for painting at an early age but did not actually begin practicing until I was about 16. A love for art and detail is something that runs in my blood. It was not until I went to the University of California, Santa Cruz that I began studying art. I have also studied photography and I sometimes experiment with mixed media.
In my work I am highly influenced by family and culture. I use strong and vibrant colors that are often used inmany celebrations in Mexico. My earlier pieces carried very detailed depictions of a family memory. My work has progressed to larger more colorful pieces but I still do my occasional smaller and more detailed pieces.
I have a particular fondness for the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos and incorporate many skeletons and flowers into my work. Major Mexican icons are a favorite for me to render in my work as well as sayings and items that cary nostalgia. As of recently food has been a major focus.
I am now growing roots here in Las Vegas, NV and love the desert scenes and the vibrant energy of this city. My hope is to pursue my painting further and share my new work with you, please feel free to send me any comments you may have about my work.
