about the Artist

I discovered my passion for painting at an early age but did not actually begin practicing until I was about 16. A love for art and detail is something that runs in my blood. It was not until I went to the University of California, Santa Cruz that I began studying art. I have also studied photography and I sometimes experiment with mixed media.

In my work I am highly influenced by family and culture. I use strong and vibrant colors that are often used in many celebrations in Mexico. My earlier pieces carried very detailed depictions of a family memory. My work has progressed to larger more colorful pieces but I still do my occasional smaller and more detailed pieces.
I have a particular fondness for the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos and incorporate many skeletons and flowers into my work. Major Mexican icons are a favorite for me to render in my work as well as sayings and items that cary nostalgia. As of recently food has been a major focus.

I hope to pursue my painting further and share my new work with you, please feel free to send me any comments you may have about my work.
